Harvesting Cover Crops

Harvesting cover crops

Some of the Wensum farmers have been practising regenerative agriculture techniques for up to 40 years. As well as reducing inversion tillage we hold group cover crop trials each year to discuss the different mixes, desiccation techniques and overall benefits to the farm business and wider environment.

This is the ideal opportunity for other farmers in the group to learn from each other and share machinery. There has been a very successful uptake of cover cropping in recent years to improve soil structure, raise organic matter and reducing nitrate leaching; all of which have overall impacts on the catchment’s water quality.
